Targeted, physician-guided peptides

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as messengers in the body. Specific peptides can support recovery, fat metabolism, lean muscle, sleep, immune function, and tissue repair.

At True You, peptide therapy is always physician-evaluated and tailored to your goals and labs — not an off-the-shelf protocol.

What peptides can support

Recovery & repair

Faster recovery from training, injury, and everyday wear.

Fat loss & lean mass

Metabolic support alongside a broader weight or performance plan.

Healthy aging

Sleep, energy, and cellular support for the long game.

What is peptide therapy?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the same building blocks that make up proteins. Your body already uses thousands of them as signals: to trigger tissue repair, regulate appetite and metabolism, support sleep, and coordinate the immune response. Peptide therapy uses specific peptides to support those signals when they’ve slowed down or need help.

Because each peptide does something different, the right choice depends entirely on your goals and your health. That’s why peptides at True You are prescribed only after a physician evaluation — and never as a one-size protocol.

How peptides differ from hormone therapy

Hormone therapy replaces a hormone your body isn’t making in the right amount. Peptides work differently: many act as signals that prompt your own tissues and glands to respond — to repair, recover, or regulate metabolism. Some influence hormone pathways indirectly; others act on specific tissues. That’s why peptides and hormones can complement each other, and why choosing between them, or combining them, should be a physician’s decision based on your labs and goals.

Goals patients bring to us

Depending on the peptide and the person, peptide therapy may support:

Recovery from training

Bouncing back faster from workouts and everyday strain.

Tissue repair

Support for healing after overuse and minor injuries.

Body composition

Fat loss and lean mass as part of a broader plan.

Sleep quality

Deeper, more restorative sleep.

Skin & healthy aging

Collagen, skin quality, and how you age over time.

Immune & gut support

Calmer inflammation and support for the gut lining.

Is it right for you?

Peptide therapy may be worth exploring if you…

  • Train hard and want to recover better between sessions
  • Are working on body composition and want physician-guided support
  • Want to support sleep, energy, and healthy aging
  • Are already optimizing hormones or weight and want a complementary tool
  • Want peptides evaluated and prescribed by a physician, not bought online

Safety first: why peptides need a physician

Peptides are widely marketed online, often labeled “for research use only.” You can’t verify what’s in those products or how they were made, and the right peptide for one person can be the wrong one for another. Some health conditions and medications also make certain peptides a poor fit.

At True You, Dr. Hoff reviews your history and labs first. If a peptide makes sense, he prescribes a specific peptide and dose, filled through a licensed pharmacy, with clear instructions and follow-up to see how you respond. If peptides aren’t the right tool for your goals, we’ll tell you — and point you to what is.

Peptide therapy alongside the rest of your plan

Peptides rarely work best alone. For many patients they complement other care: hormone therapy when hormones are part of the picture, medical weight loss for body composition, and functional medicine when sleep, gut, or energy needs a root-cause look. Your first visit and labs are in person at our downtown Fredericksburg office, and many follow-ups can be virtual.

What to expect once you start

Before you begin, we explain exactly what your peptide is meant to do, how to use it, what you might notice, and what to report to us. Changes are usually gradual. Sleep and recovery tend to respond first; body composition and tissue goals take longer and depend on training, nutrition, and consistency.

We check in to see how you’re responding and adjust or stop the protocol if it isn’t helping. Peptides are a tool — not a substitute for sleep, nutrition, and movement — and we’ll be honest about what they can and can’t do for your goals.

Peptide therapy — common questions

How long does peptide therapy take to work?
It depends on the peptide and your goal. Some people notice changes in sleep or recovery within a few weeks; body-composition and tissue goals usually take longer. See how long results take for a realistic timeline.
What is the best age to start peptide therapy?
There isn’t one. Dr. Hoff considers your age, health history, and goals together. Peptides are used for very different reasons at different stages of life.
Is peptide therapy safe?
Safety depends on the right peptide, the right patient, and a reliable source. That’s why we evaluate first, prescribe through a licensed pharmacy, and follow up to monitor how you respond.
Are peptides the same as hormones or steroids?
No. Peptides are short amino-acid chains that act as signals. Some influence hormone pathways, but they’re a different tool — and we explain exactly what a peptide is meant to do before you start.
Do you take insurance for peptide therapy?
True You is a cash-based practice. We’re transparent about costs during your consultation.
How do I get started?
Book an initial appointment. We’ll talk through your goals, run appropriate labs, and decide together whether peptides fit. Read how to get started for details.
Can peptides help with weight loss?
Some peptides may support fat metabolism as part of a broader plan that includes nutrition and strength training. Read peptides for fat loss and energy for where they fit — and where they don’t.
Can I use peptides alongside hormone therapy?
Often, yes. Many patients use peptides alongside hormone optimization or medical weight loss. Dr. Hoff reviews everything you take to make sure the plan fits together safely.
Do I need lab work before starting peptides?
Usually, yes. Labs and your history help us decide whether peptides are appropriate and which one fits. Testing is done in person at our Fredericksburg office.
Can my follow-up visits be virtual?
Many can. Your first visit and labs are in person at our downtown Fredericksburg office; much of the ongoing monitoring can then be handled virtually.
Who should not use peptide therapy?
Peptides aren’t right for everyone. Certain health conditions, medications, and life stages can make a peptide a poor choice. That’s exactly what the evaluation is for — and we’ll tell you if peptides aren’t a fit.
